Code 777 – which is generally credited or co-credited to designer Robert Abbott – was actually created by master game designer Alex Randolph. In Code 777 you are trying to determine the three numbers on the rack in front of you, a rack that can be seen by all of your opponents but not you. On your turn, you'll ask an opponent a question about all the tiles that the opponent can see – that is, two racks that you can both see and your own hidden rack. Based on the answers you receive, you can eventually determine what your tiles are. Well, that's the hope anyway! The first person to correctly identify his tiles three times wins.
U.S. publisher Stronghold Games will release a version of the game for 2-5 players in four languages in 2010, while UK publisher King International is releasing the game under the name Tricoda but only in Europe. In addition to the languages listed above, Tricoda will include rules in Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Portuguese.
In a February 2010 news item on BGN, Stronghold's Kevin Nesbitt said, "There are a couple of other key differences in our version, but we're not prepared to announce those just yet, except to say that our customers will really like them." At least one of those differences has been revealed by the cover art released after the initial game anouncements: Stronghold's Code 777 includes symbols on the tiles in addition to colors in order to allow the color-blind to play.
