Survive – Escape from Atlantis!Stronghold Games has released images for its new version of Julian Courtland-Smith's Survive: Escape from Atlantis! For those not familiar with the game, here's a recap of game play from the April 2010 game announcement on BGN:

In Survive: Escape from Atlantis!, players are tasked with escaping from an island that is slowly sinking into the sea. Players control a number of stranded citizens who must escape to islands surrounding Atlantis. Along the way they can be helped by boats or dolphins, but danger lurks everywhere! Sea monsters, whales and sharks can stand in the way of escape. The island sinks in a different way each game, so players must adjust their strategy from game to game. Head for the high ground if you must, but be prepared to make a desperate swim for safety!

Such a blast from the past to see this game board. I can easily picture my brother and I loafing around the living room after school, indulging in soda and huge piles of cookies while playing this game over and over again...

You know I just have to say I think I can get very excited about this game... varying strategies, an actual game objective and AWESOME box art that doesn't take it self too seriously. If this one finishes with great components, then I have my third game of the year to purchase. Not having thousands of games on my shelf, every decision is a careful decision... weighted towards fun. Between Mystery Express and this game headlining my purchases, it will have overall been a very successful buying year.

We are very excited about bringing back "Survive!", and doing so not only with great upgraded components, but also with a respect for the lineage of the game, as we retitle it, "Survive: Escape From Atlantis!".

Of course, the game will play exactly like the original "Survive!", as we promised. However, we are also adding additional components to be used with the optional "Challenge Rules", which are adaptations of some of the "Escape From Atlantis" rules, giving players more flexibility and added replay value.

Look for "Survive: Escape From Atlantis!" to go to preorder around October 1, and have a street date of about November 15.

Beautiful! Survive is a MUST OWN game. It is always a pleasure to play and I am very pleased that it is being reprinted. Survive has always been a Top Shelf game in my house and never fails to please.
